From Start to Send



Open an account with OANDA

  1. Register. Use our online registration form to create a new account. In the FXGlobalTransfer section of the form, select “YES” to enable funds transfer activity from your account. Alternatively, you can register off line by mailing in a registration form.

  2. Activate. After you submit your completed registration form, you will receive an email containing an account activation link. Click on the link in the email to activate your account.

  3. Confirm. Once your account is activated, you will need to confirm your identification. We require two pieces of official identification to complete the account opening process.

  4. Receive authorization. You will receive an email stating that your account is authorized for funding.

Fund your account

  1. Deposit funds. You must wire funds from your financial institution to OANDA to fund your OANDA account. You can fund primary accounts or sub-accounts in EUR, GBP, USD, CAD, AUD, JPY, and CHF.

    Log in to OANDA's Cash Management System to find out how to wire funds in your currency, and to notify OANDA that your wire is on the way.

  2. Notify OANDA. Log in to the Cash Management System and complete the online Deposit Notification Form to let us know that you have deposited funds in your OANDA account.

  3. Receive confirmation. You will receive an email confirming that funds have been deposited in your OANDA account and are available for you to use in FXGlobalTransfer or FXTrade.

Add recipient(s)

  1. Log in to FXGlobalTransfer.

  2. Click the Recipients tab.

  3. To send funds to a recipient, you need to provide three main types of information: Recipient, Bank, and Bank Account.

    • To add a brand new recipient, click the Full Recipient Creation button. Enter the recipient, bank and bank account information accurately and in full. Note that every bank you add will become added to your bank database for you to choose from when adding future recipients.

    • To add an additional account for an existing recipient involves one or two steps, based on whether you have already saved the bank information. To add new bank and bank account details, select the recipient from your list, and then click the Add Bank button. Once you have added the bank, click the Add Recipient Account button and complete the form in full. Note that if you have already saved the bank information, you only need to click Add Recipient Account.

    *Note: You can delete recipients from your list if you will no longer be transferring funds to them. However, you must wait until all transactions are complete before you can do so. You cannot delete recipients for whom there are pending transactions.

Set up a transfer

  1. Log in to FXGlobalTransfer.

  2. Click the Set Up a Transfer tab.

  3. Select the recipient and recipient account to which you want to transfer funds.

  4. Select the OANDA account from which to send funds.

  5. Select the currency in which to send funds and enter the amount that you are sending. The total cost of your transfer immediately appears in the Rate box, converted into your account currency. This total is calculated using live exchange rates and our flat fee, both of which are also shown. Since our rates are live, you may notice that your total cost changes as the market fluctuates. Note that you can transfer only those funds that were initially deposited by wire transfer (in keeping with our policy of withdrawing funds in the same manner in which they were deposited).

  6. Submit your transfer. You must have sufficient funds in your account to cover the total cost of your transfer. This total cost is immediately subtracted from your OANDA account, and your transfer is initiated.

Check your transaction status

  1. Log in to FXGlobalTransfer.

  2. Click the Transaction History tab. All your transfers are sorted by account.

  3. To open a summary table for a particular account, click the down arrow.
    • Pending: This status appears immediately upon submitting your transfer.
    • Returned: In the rare case that an issue arises with your transfer, the transaction status changes to Returned and you will receive an email informing you that the funds have been returned to your OANDA account.
    • Sent: This status appears when OANDA receives notice that your transfer has reached your recipient's bank.
  4. To see more details on a particular transaction, click the view details icon.

  5. To view your complete transaction history, including funds deposited, withdrawn and used for trading activity, log in to the FXTrade Cash Management System.
